Myth 1. Carbs Are Terrible
Carbs have a reputation of being the root of all evil in the world of nutrition. The reality is more complicated.
You see, there are two types of carbs: good carbs and bad carbs. Good carbs are, well, good for you! They are nutrient-rich foods like fruits, vegetables and whole grains that your body needs for energy.
Bad carbs are different. They tend to be empty calories that your body quickly converts into fat. These include things like candy, white bread, and starches. Eating a bunch of good carbs is essential to being a healthy person. At the same time, it’s important to cut out as many bad carbs as possible.
Myth 2. Fats Are Terrible
Fats are another blanket target by many people. People hear that a food is high fat and they get scared. “I don’t want to get fat, so why would I eat this!?”
The reality is that your body needs some fat, and eating the right kinds of fat doesn’t necessarily make you overweight. In fact, eating a lot of healthy unsaturated fats is an important part of any good nutrition and weight loss plan.
Myth 3. You Can Just Take Vitamins And Be Healthy
Another myth out there is that you can JUST take vitamins and be healthy. In reality, if you want to be healthy, you need to combine the right vitamins with a healthy diet and regular exercise.
If you take vitamins every day but just eat a bunch of fast food, then you won’t be very healthy.

Myth 4. Cholesterol Is Bad For You
Everyone thinks that cholesterol causes heart problems, but the story is a little more complicated than that. Like everything else, there is “good” cholesterol and “bad” cholesterol. Bad cholesterol is called Low-density lipoprotein (LDL), which builds up in your arteries and causes circulation problems.

Myth 5. Eggs Are Bad For Your Health
Some people freak out when they read the nutrition label of a carton of eggs. They see that eggs have a lot of cholesterol and dismiss eggs as being bad for them!
This is unfortunate, because eggs are actually REALLY good for you. In fact, they are arguably the best food out there because they are loaded with protein, healthy fat and lots of nutrients. Seriously, have you ever heard of somebody getting a heart attack because they ate too many eggs?
Myth 6. Alcohol Is Bad For You
Yes, it’s true that if you get drunk every night with beer and whisky, you will have health problems. However, study after study shows that moderate amounts of alcohol – especially red wine – is associated with all kinds of great health benefits.
Myth 7. Diet Soda Is Good For You
Many people chug down large amounts of diet soda, claiming it has zero calories and is therefore good for you. In reality, the most common artificial sweeteners – aspartame and sucralose – wreak havoc on your metabolism and encourage your body to store more fat.
Myth 8. Foods labeled “Natural” Are Healthy For You
The problem with the label “natural” is that it’s unregulated. Even some sodas claim to be made with “natural” ingredients. It’s a meaningless marketing label that you should pay no attention to.
Myth 9. Chocolate Is Bad For You
Chocolate is actually a terrific food to eat. That’s because it contains the healthy saturated fat stearic acid, which increases the amount of “good cholesterol” in your body.
Myth 10. Organic Is Always The Best
In many cases, organic foods have the exact same nutritional value to its conventional counterparts. This is very much a case-by-case basis, just don’t automatically assume that organic is going to be better.
